How it works

Choose it. Go there. Listen.

Atlas turns a place into experiences you can simply start: a route, the stories along it, and narration that plays when you arrive.

Three steps

  1. Step 1: Pick an experience

A walk, a drive, a heritage site or a story — or let the Best Atlas Day choose for you.

  2. Step 2: Go to the start

Every experience shows exactly where it begins, with directions to the first stop.

  3. Step 3: Listen as you arrive

Your phone's location plays each story when you reach the place it's about.

Walks, drives, sites and stories

Walks
On foot, stop by stop. Each stop plays as you reach it.
Drives
Roads and loops you drive, with narration for the places along the way.
Heritage sites
One site, told in parts as you move around it.
Towns
An introduction to a town, heard when you get there.
Stories
Narration that is not tied to a route. Listen anywhere.

Free and paid

Some experiences are free. Others let you hear their first stops free before you decide on the full tour. Each experience page says which it is before you start.

Listening without signal

Some experiences can be saved to your phone before you go so the audio plays without a signal. Where that's possible, the experience page says so.

Your location

During an experience, your phone's location is used on your phone to play each stop when you reach it.

On this website, Near me ranks experiences by distance inside your browser. Your location is not sent to us or stored.
